Dead, storm-damaged, or too close to the house. On Wildwood lots that often means a big tree with nowhere easy to drop it. The crew rigs it down in sections, hauls it off, and rakes the yard before the trailer leaves.

Dead wood in the canopy, limbs over the roof, branches shading out the lawn. A trim planned around the tree's health, with the clearance you asked for, so the tree comes out better than it went in.

One stump or a dozen. Ground below grade, chips hauled off, ready to seed or sod. Nothing left for the mower to catch.
view serviceLot size, mostly. Wildwood properties run bigger and more wooded than the rest of West County. A lot of homes sit on an acre or more with the original hardwoods still standing, and the trees at the back of the property have not had anyone looking up at them in years. That is where the dead oak nobody noticed lives, and where a trim gets skipped because the tree is far from the house.
It also means access. Long driveways, sloped yards, and trees a hundred feet from anywhere a truck can park. The crew plans for that before the job starts, so the equipment that shows up is the equipment the property can handle.
Three options, and Matt will tell you which one fits when he walks the property.
Tree trimming is for a tree that is staying. Dead, broken, and crossing limbs come out, the canopy gets raised where you need clearance, and the tree is left healthier than it was. Tree removal is for a tree that is dead, failing, or in the wrong place. It comes down in sections, gets hauled off, and the yard gets cleaned. Stump grinding takes what is left below grade so you can seed or sod over it.
If you are not sure which one you need, that is what the estimate is for.
Late winter is the easiest time to trim most shade trees. The tree is dormant, the structure is visible without leaves, and cuts heal quickly once spring growth starts. Removals and stump grinding happen year-round, weather and ground conditions allowing.
A tree that is already a problem does not wait for a season. A limb on the roof can come off now. A dead tree leaning toward the house can come down now. Matt will tell you during the estimate whether waiting makes sense for your tree.
Every job is quoted in person. On Wildwood properties the number depends on the size of the tree, how far it sits from where the truck can park, what is around it, and how much needs to come off or come down. The estimate is free, and what Matt quotes is what you pay.
The same reasons come up in the reviews. The owner showed up. The crew knew what it was doing. The yard was clean afterward. Ballwin Tree Service has over 100 five-star reviews, and the specific ones are the ones we hold ourselves to. "You'd never know a crew was there." "Qualified professionals and safety minded."
A lot of Wildwood customers are repeat customers. One tree this year, another one a few years later, the same crew both times. That is what 15+ years in the same six cities looks like.
Wildwood is the western edge of the six cities Ballwin Tree Service has worked for over 15 years, alongside Ballwin, Chesterfield, Clarkson Valley, Ellisville, and Manchester. We do three things: tree removal, tree trimming, and stump grinding. Owner Matt Neal walks every estimate himself, Alberto leads the crew, and the yard is clean when we leave. Every time.

I'm Matt Neal, and I own Ballwin Tree Service. Every Wildwood estimate is me, on your property, looking at the tree and everything around it. You get a straight answer on what it needs and a written quote before anyone touches a saw. I'm an ISA Certified Arborist, which means I trained and tested on how trees grow and respond to cuts, so the recommendation is built around what the tree needs. No sales rep, no pressure, and no surprises on the invoice.
